Certifications

The BRC is the British Retail Consortium global standard for food safety. Established in 1998, it guarantees that branded products have been made according to well-defined quality standards and in compliance with minimum requirements.

It is one of the food safety standards recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI): an international initiative whose main aim is to consolidate and promote food safety throughout the entire supply chain.

Besides being a necessary prerequisite for exporting products to Europe, application of this certificate is a recognized guarantee of corporate reliability.

The IFS (International Food Standard) aims to promote an effective selection of food product suppliers by large-scale retailers, based on their ability to supply safe products that comply with contractual specifications and legal requirements.

This model is recognized both in Europe and in the rest of the world. This certification too is part of the food safety standards recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI): an international initiative whose main aim is to strengthen and promote food safety throughout the entire supply chain.

Bio is a merchandise certificate and guarantees that the finished product has been made using organic raw materials.

It therefore certifies that the raw materials used have been obtained using the best environmental practices, a high level of biodiversity, the protection of natural resources, the application of strict animal welfare criteria and production adapted to the preferences of consumers who favor products made using natural substances and processes.

Organic products are regulated in the United States under a specific Federal Law, known as the NOP (National Organic Program), which is managed by the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture).

Italian and European operators who wish to market organic products in the USA are required to be certified in compliance with this law by bodies recognized for this purpose directly by the USDA.

Organic products already certified under Regulation (EU) 2018/848 can be marketed in the USA thanks to the equivalence agreement negotiated between the EU and the USA.

Organic products already certified under EC Regulation 834/2007 can be sold in Canada thanks to the equivalence agreement between the EU and Canada.

The word “kosher” means “suitable” in Hebrew.

This certification guarantees that food production is suitable for consumption and complies with kosher dietary standards, meaning it follows the set of religious regulations governing the nutrition of observant Jews.

These are very precise dietary rules which concern both the permitted ingredients and the processing methods and in particular, how animals intended for consumption must be slaughtered. The result is a “suitable” food (or kosher) not only for the body but also for the soul.

It is the internationally-recognized benchmark standard for the quality management of any organization that wants to satisfy its customers with regard to the products supplied and services provided, as well as the continuous improvement of company performance. It also means the certified company can guarantee customers that the quality of its goods and services will be maintained and improved over time.

Please note: Only Galvanina products bearing the OK Kosher symbol are kosher certified.

ISO9001 is the international benchmark standard for Quality Management Systems (QMS) published by ISO (International Organization for Standardization).

It applies to organizations that intend to satisfy their customers regarding the products and services is provides. It also requires companies to work towards continuously improving performance, guaranteeing the increasing improvement of the quality standard of their goods and services.

AEO (Authorized Economic Operator) certification stems from the need to guarantee the security of imported, exported and transit goods.

In response to this need, the European Union introduced this qualification, which guarantees the reliability of the company with regard to customs authorities, ensuring strict compliance with regulations and product safety.

ISO 45001 is an international standard that defines the requirements for a management system in respect of health and safety at work (HSW), whose goal is to create safe environments, prevent injuries and improve HSW.

It focuses on specific corporate risks and workers’ or stakeholders’ requirements. Its pivotal points are HSW regulations, complemented by additional requirements with a view to monitoring compliance, setting objectives and selecting those procedures that an organisation agrees to abide by in order to foster health and safety at work.

ISO 14001 is a voluntary international standard that defines all requirements for an environmental management system, fully included in Annex II of EU Regulation 1221/09.

This system allows for higher regulatory compliance, waste reduction, cutting on red tape and supporting investment decisions.
Moreover, it adds value to the company, helping in managing environmental risks, improving relationships with the authorities and enhancing the corporate image, as well as implementing measures aimed at preventing environmental offences.

SA8000 certification is an internationally recognized accredited standard that ensures respect for workers’ rights and promotes safe and dignified working conditions.

AWS (Alliance for Water Stewardship): The Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) is the first international standard dedicated to managing and safeguarding water resources. It is a global system aimed at promoting the sustainable use of water, to the advantage of communities, of the environment and the economy, by harnessing responsible and sustainable practices.

The company obtained certification for the Val di Meti facility in 2023, and for the Rimini facilities in 2025.

Galvanina has received the EcoVadis Gold Medal, one of the most prestigious international awards in the field of corporate sustainability, ranking in the 97th percentile of companies evaluated worldwide.

The EcoVadis evaluation examines four key areas: environment, labor practices and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. The result achieved reflects the substantial progress made by the company, particularly in strengthening environmental management, ethical practices, and responsible sourcing policies.

This recognition represents further confirmation of the integration of sustainability into Galvanina’s strategy and its commitment to creating long-term value for all stakeholders.
